“ Selma's Chicago Pizzeria San Juan Capistrano I suspect this restaurant has never operated in Chicago, but, currently they make the best Chicago deep dish pizza in the nation. I grew up in Chicago. A very long time ago, when I was 10 years old, some new restaurant, that everybody was talking about, called gee or danios opened. We walked there from our house. It was a tiny, packed, "hole in the wall" restaurant, without a ..., serving the absolute best deep dish pizza we had ever tasted. The rumor was, they put ... in their sauce. Nobody cared, it was by far the best deep dish in Chicago. Forward, 50 years later, it has franchised a long time ago,the pizza they serve is... Then visited Selma's "Chicago"pizzeria in multiple locations in California. From my Google searches, Selma's has never sold a pizza in Chicago. But, as of today they make the best example of Chicago deep dish. Much, much better than current Chicago staples. A quiet, unassuming restaurant serving the best Chicago deep dish in the nation .... in California. ”
“ Great pizza, excellent ambiance, and a very tending staff. Can't ask for more. ”
“ Great pizza and great beer selection! Shout out to Dino, he provided excellent service and recommended the fries which were amazing ”
“ We're big Selma's fans. Chill pizza joint with good bar food, salads, sandwiches and options to accommodate all diets such as vegan, gluten free and keto. Parking is usually pretty easy in the structure around the corner, but you may have to park on the roof. Good options for families and big parties. Nice outdoor dining options, rotating taps and sports always playing. Servers are always pleasant. Pizza can be expensive because of the quality ingredients and crust options. Accepts all credit cards. If you find this post helpful please like! ”
“ I reserved the private room at SJC for my son’s rehearsal dinner (Nov 2023) and couldn’t have been more pleased with our experience. From reserving the room, to picking the food, to help with my set-up, the staff..everything was on point. Great people. Very reasonably priced and food was delicious! I highly recommend them. ”
“ Gotta rave about this restaurant. I have been trying to find good Chicago style deep dish pizza in California for 23 years and found it here, quite by accident. My Wife and I both are originally from Chicago, and we are very familiar with what makes a good, no, great deep dish pizza. This place got it right! We split a small size, with only Italian sausage (good quality sausage too), we started off with the regular size Italian chopped salad. This was plenty of food for us both and probably too much for a couple of average eaters. The staff was courteous and helpful, very professional. The restaurant was clean and very pleasant, with windows open to the sidewalk and an outdoor patio. There is a full bar which features a happy hour menu. The restrooms were well maintained, clean and fully stocked. Service was quick. The price for all this was not bad either! We had two iced teas as well, and the bill, with tax, came out to just 36.96! About what you would pay for a couple of burgers in a casual dining restaurant. All in all, I, we highly recommend this restaurant and will be coming back again. ”
“ Selma's Chicago Pizzeria is an incredible restaurant. There are multiple locations around the area. This particular one requires a paid parking lot, but the other ones are available with free parking. The staff here is great. The menu is extensive. Their beer selection is wonderful. Bring your entire family and enjoy their food. They show sports on their televisions in the bar area. They do have rooms that are available for private events if you are so inclined. At least one of the owners is a family man, and that goes a long way in my book. ”
“ The sausage had fennel and slightly spicy and was the same sausage you would get in Chicago. Normally Chicago pizza has the toppings underneath the cheese and it's cut into squares though not triangles. They use a butter crust that had a nice depth of flavor so it was probably fermented a day or so. Usually you need to have the dough rise on its own to get that flavor. However having the veggies on top kept the crust nice and crispy on the bottom. Def will be trying the deep dish next time. ”
